Toini Shafodino, Principal of Ounyenye Combined School in
Ohangwena region.
How ALI’s intervention in my life has opened my way to success.
First of all I would like to thank God almighty for the lives of each team member at ALI. They really impacted my life positively. I joined the ministry of education as a teacher in 1999 and I was privileged to serve at three different schools before I was promoted to become head of department in 2007. At all the four different schools, I was exposed to different leadership styles and I’ve learned the uniqueness of different individuals from different communities.
I later came to learn that through all these experiences, my life was somehow brought to stagnation due to some of these differences. As a head of department, my performance was only great for the first three years until things started turning around due to various factors. My passion and willingness to pursue my leadership career was affected negatively so I started losing joy.
In 2018 I heard about the African Leadership Institute in Okahandja and how it transforms the lives of leaders. This gave me hope so I decided to enrol for a certificate in transformational leadership (CTL) in the same year. I was equipped thoroughly thus I was able to overcome my doubts, uncertainties and fears of the unknown within three weeks of my enrolment.
The team of experts were able to really equip us for the journey of Leadership and as a result my passion for leadership was restored once more. My life really got transformed. I then started applying for promotional posts. It took only a year and I finally got through with one in 2021 after trying for thirteen years before my enrolment at ALI. I was able to get promoted as a principal.
I am very grateful for ALI’s intervention in my life because it has not only opened my door to success
but has brought joy and meaning to my life too. I pray the Lord gives them strength to continue
transforming people’s lives for the better.
